Sidoarjo, Ditjen Vokasi – Tak dipungkiri, geliat sekolah menengah kejuruan (SMK) kini tengah mengalami perkembangan nan pesat. Tak hanya dilihat dari bangunan, proses pembelajaran pun kini jauh lebih menyenangkan hingga membuat peserta didiknya kian nyaman selama menikmati masa studi di sekolahnya.

Contoh nyata, tengok saja SMKN 1 Buduran di Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur, yang kini menyandang status sebagai SMK Pusat Keunggulan (PK). Di tangan dingin sang nakhoda, Agustina, sekolah kini layaknya sebuah “industri mini” yang melibatkan peserta didik selama proses pembelajaran. “Alhamdulillah, saya berhasil membawa SMK ini menjadi sekolah berprestasi tingkat nasional,” ujar Agustina yang menggawangi SMKN 1 Buduran sejak 2017.

Sebelum menyandang SMK PK, sekolah ini juga telah berstatus SMK Center of Exellence (CoE) yang menjadi bukti bahwa program sekolah tersebut memang memiliki keunggulan dibanding SMK lainnya. “Dalam jangka waktu empat tahun, kami harus membuat roadmap hingga akhirnya dapat dilanjutkan menjadi SMK PK,” jelas Agustina.

Tak seperti SMK umumnya, SMK PK harus memiliki pemimpin yang memiliki kapabilitas layaknya seorang manajer di perusahaan. Alhasil, teaching factory (tefa) yang dimiliki oleh sekolah harus mampu berjalan layaknya sebuah usaha mandiri yang memiliki manajerial nan mumpuni. “Teaching factory di bidang hospitality yang kami miliki adalah Edotel yang menjadi rujukan pengelolaannya di seluruh Indonesia. Tak hanya sekolah, beberapa pemerintah daerah juga belajar mengenai pengelolaan Edotel,” ujar Agustina.

Melalui tefa, peserta didik diajak praktik secara riil di dalamnya. Semisal proses pembelajaran di Edotel, peserta didik bakal berhadapan langsung dengan para customer, bukan lagi guru layaknya yang belajar di kelas semata. “Kalau buat kesalahan dengan guru bisa ditoleransi, sedangkan dengan customer akan komplain. Jadi, kami memberikan pengalaman kepada peserta didik bagaimana menghadapi masalah tersebut,” terang Agustina.

Menurut Agustina, proses pembelajaran berbasis proyek (project based learning/PBL) ini pun menjadi menarik karena umumnya siswa yang terlatih langsung ini mudah mendapat pekerjaan karena sesuai dengan kebutuhan industrinya. “Jadi, proses pembelajaran ini membuat mereka lebih senang, berbeda dengan hanya belajar di kelas,” tuturnya.

Terlebih, hadirnya Kurikulum Merdeka telah memberi peluang bagi sekolah untuk memanfaatkan segala sumber daya, seperti potensi peserta didik, guru, maupun potensi daerah sekitarnya, dalam melaksanakan proses pembelajaran. Jadi, “Kurikulum Merdeka menciptakan Merdeka Belajar bagi murid, sedangkan guru mendapatkan Merdeka Mengajar. Namun, ‘merdeka’ tidak dapat diasumsikan, misalnya siswa boleh datang terlambat atau tidak mengikuti pelajaran. ‘Merdeka’ adalah belajar sesuai dengan passion, tanpa tekanan,” jelas Agustina.

Demikian juga dengan para guru, mereka harus berkolaborasi antara guru pengajar mata pelajaran produktif dan nonprokdutif agar sebuah proyek dapat dikerjakan bersama. Misalnya, “Apa saja yang harus diketahui anak ketika memperkenalkan diri dengan bahasa yang baik. Meski, itu harus disertai dengan contoh,” ujar Agustina.

Tak hanya guru, orang tua juga menjadi bagian penting dalam mendidik karakter anak. Dalam Kurikulum Merdeka, tambah Agustina, banyak pelajaran yang harus dimulai dari rumah. “Jangan lagi orang tua memaksakan anak memilih program studi sesuai kemauan mereka, melainkan sesuai dengan minat anak. Ini harus diketahui juga oleh orang tua bahwa mendampingi anak milenial berbeda pada saat mereka masih sekolah. Jadi, orang tua juga harus menjadi coach bagi anaknya,” terangnya.

Alhasil, sejak kelas X, orang tua diperkenalkan dengan GELI, yakni gerakan kenali dan beli produk yang diadakan oleh pihak sekolah. Di program ini, wali murid diperkenalkan tentang program-program sekolah melalui kegiatan parenting. Melalui program GELI ini juga sekolah memperkenalkan produk-produk yang dihasilkan oleh peserta didik SMKN 1 Buduran. Jadi, “Berjalannya teaching factory membuat orang tua mengetahui cara belajar anaknya di sekolah. Misalnya, orang tua harus mengetahui bagaimana Edotel yang harus berjalan selama 24 jam,” ujar Agustina.

Melalui Kurikulum Merdeka, peserta didik juga dapat belajar di luar minatnya, misalnya siswa Jurusan Tata Boga bisa mempelajari kecantikan. “Kita tidak memaksakan anak harus menguasai semuanya, melainkan harus melihat potensi besarnya. Jadi, siswa akan melakukan sebuah proyek sesuai dengan apa yang ingin mereka kembangkan,” tutur Agustina.

Agustina menyebutkan, tantangan yang kini dihadapi adalah mengubah mindset, baik guru maupun orang tua. Perubahan mindset ini harus dikelola dengan baik melalui komunikasi yang terus dikembangkan antarguru, misalnya melalui agen perubahan guru penggerak dan komite pembelajaran. “Agen-agen perubahan inilah yang nantinya akan belajar bersama dengan para guru hingga menghasilkan paradigma baru sesuai dengan Kurikulum Merdeka,” jelasnya.

Hadirnya Hotel Mewah dan Kafe Kekinian

Mengunjungi Edotel di lingkungan SMKN 1 Buduran, pengunjung serasa memasuki sebuah hotel ternama. Di area lobi, disuguhkan reseptionist counter sebagai penerima tamu dan Halloday counter, yakni salah satu tefa jasa usaha perjalanan wisata. Counter ini menyediakan jasa layanan pemesanan tiket kereta api, pesawat, maupun pengisian pulsa.

Menariknya lagi, Edotel mengusung tema tematik yang merupakan jurusan studi yang tersaji di SMKN 1 Buduran. Dalam Edotel, terdapat sebuah kamar besar (suite room) layaknya kamar hotel bintang empat, lengkap dengan ranjang tidur king size, kursi dan meja makan, sofa untuk menonton smart TV, bath tub, kulkas mini, save deposite box, serta dilengkapi bingkai foto besar yang menggambarkan perjalanan pembangunan Edotel sejak 2007 hingga proses renovasinya.

Adapun deluxe room, terdiri atas double bed dan twin bed. Menariknya, di setiap kamar tersaji buku-buku yang disesuaikan dengan tema kamar sebagai bahan edukasi para penginapnya.

Tipe terakhir, yakni superior, yang terhubung dengan tefa lainnya di sekolah, yakni Edo Salon dan kafe “.satukopi”. Layaknya salon pada umumnya, Edo Salon menyajikan layanan creambath, facial, make up, dan lainnya.

“.satukopi” merupakan kafe yang menjajakan ragam minuman, plus buku-buku yang dapat dibaca langsung oleh para pengunjungnya. “Tefa ini ditujukan agar siswa/siswi turut mengetahui budaya industri,” ujar Agustina.

Agustina menjelaskan, tefa juga dilakukan untuk mempelajari sesuai sesuai dengan proyek. Semisal untuk tata busana yang dimulai dari ide, menyusun subtema, membuat desain, pola, bahan, hingga menjadi sebuah produk. Tak hanya itu, peserta didik juga mendapatkan pelajaran promosi melalui praktik pameran hingga diketahui daya saingnya.

“Kami juga mempunyai tim pemasaran online maupun offline. Salah satu tefa, yakni kafe “.satukopi” sempat menjadi trending topic di Sidoarjo,” terang Agustina.

Tempatnya yang strategis menjadikan “.satukopi” terlihat mencolok dari jalan raya. Ditambah lagi, ragam pohon rindang di lingkungan sekolah menjadikan hadirnya tefa terlihat nyaman. Tak sekadar outlet, kafe juga dilengkapi dengan perlengkapan pembuat minuman modern serta fasilitas pendukung lainnya layaknya kafe kekinian yang kini menjamur di setiap daerah tanah air.

Berlokasi di kawasan Jenggolo, Sidoarjo, SMKN 1 Buduran menyajikan lingkungan sekolah yang aman, nyaman, dan asri yang membuat siswa betah belajar di sekolah. SMK ini mempunyai kompetensi keahlian usaha perjalanan wisata, perhotelan, tata boga, tata kecantikan kulit dan rambut, spa and beauty therapy, tata busana, serta desain fesyen.

SMK yang berdiri sejak 10 Nopember 1977 ini memiliki ruang belajar, laboratorium, dan peralatan praktik memadai berstandar internasional. Sekolah ini juga memiliki kelas wirausaha di bidang tata boga dan tata busana serta kelas industri di bidang perhotelan dan tata boga.

Pada bulan Januari 2017 SMKN 1 Buduran Sidoarjo secara resmi bersertifikat ISO 9001-2015 yang semula ISO 9001-2008 dari lembaga TUV Rheinland Grup Jerman. Lalu pada tahun 2019 SMKN 1 Buduran mendapatkan penghargaan sebagai SMK Berprestasi dan Unggul Nasional dari Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan RI, hingga pada tahun 2020 dipilih sebagai SMK CoE dan SMK PK sejak tahun lalu. (Diksi/Bam/AP/NA)
